frequently asked questions

best chiropractor, near me, Watford, Alvinston, low back pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, Werden

What is an adjustment

An adjustment is a highly-skilled and precise movement usually applied by hand to the vertebrae of the spine or other joints of the body. Adjustment to the joint helps restore proper movement and improves function caused by back pain. When a joint is adjusted, an air bubble may escape causing a popping noise, similar to when you crack your knuckles. Depending on the nature, of the problem, your chiropractor may utilize joint mobilization, muscle release technique, muscle stimulation and therapeutic exercises to relieve your pain and get you moving again.

Do I need a referral?

No, a patient does not need a referral. Chiropractors and massage therapists are primary healthcare professionals in Canada. This means that a patient can consult them directly.

Is treatment covered by health insurance?

Chiropractic and massage therapy are often covered by extended health insurance. Check your health plan to determine the coverage available to you. Your insurance company may request a doctor's note for massage therapy. Treatment is no longer covered by OHIP.

Is treatment safe?

Chiropractic care and massage therapy are recognized as one of the safest, drug-free, non-invasive therapies. Most patients experience immediate relief following a treatment; however,  some may experience temporary pain or stiffness. These adverse effects are typically minor and short lived and are addressed with appropriate home care advice.

What conditions do we treat?

Our therapists treat many common musculoskeletal conditions including back pain, sciatica,  neck pain, headaches, strains/sprains,  jaw pain, workplace and sports injuries. Chiropractic care and massage therapy may also be used to prevent future injury and enhance the general well-being of the patient.

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture uses specifically placed thin needles to improve blood circulation, stimulate endorphin release and restore the natural healing ability of the body. It is a safe and alternative treatment for back pain including sciatica and many other conditions.
